Overall Process:

A video of the helium hotspot (also raspberry pi 4B based hardware) flash COTX firmware, which is the same process as RPI, so this can a good reference for you.

Demo Video - to Flash COTX firmware and join FlexiMining

Prerequisites:

This is a beta test function, the COTX firmware in this manual:

- ONLY supports Raspberry Pi 4B hardware (RPI);

- We welcome more RPI owners to join the beta test: flash COTX firmware, connect your RPI to COTX Hotspot Cloud Service, and enable FlexiMining© apps.

You can restore to the official system by using the Raspberry Pi OS – Raspberry Pi  https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/

Terms of Service:

  • Please note that if you choose to join the beta test, the Raspberry Pi owner takes full responsibility for your Raspberry Pi warranty. COTX does not provide any hardware maintenance services to your non-COTX hardware; COTX does not take any responsibility for your non-COTX hardware.
  • COTX only provides OTA and FlexiMining© app installation.
  • Flash COTX firmware for your RPI is totally FREE.
  • You will be charged for the FlexiMining© service fee if you install fleximining app for crypto mining. Option 1: Pay for FlexiMining app one by one. Avg. Cost is ~ 1 USD per app per RPI per MONTH. Option 2: Pay for all FlexiMining apps at once. Avg. Cost is ~ 15 USD per for all apps per RPI per YEAR. Please check FlexiMining Support Matrix to see what apps we support.
  • Regarding the COTX firmware, we aim to provide the FlexiMining service for the Raspberry Pi platform so that even Raspberry Pi's can become a multiple crypto mining device very straightforwardly.
  • The COTX firmware does not provide SSH or the original Raspberry Pi page. Only the COTX native DASHBOARD page and the COTX cloud management platform www.cotx-sg.io can access the RPI device.
  • All FlexiMining App related stake, enablement, and collateral fees are collected by 3rd party apps, not by COTX, so you have to pay them during the FlexiMining app installation. Please check the section "App Installation limitations:" in question How to choose a FlexiMining App?, FlexiMining FAQ.

COTX Firmware Download address:

Tip. If you have more than one device, please burn the SD card separately. Once the SD card has been inserted into the device and powered up, it will write the device information and cannot be replaced directly for use in other devices. It is impossible to copy SD cards from other RPI for use.

Preparation:

1. Please record the ETH MAC of the RPI first to find the IP address of the device after flashing the firmware.

2. To restore your RPI's original firmware, you can replace it with the original SD card. So please keep you original SD card safely.

3. Prepare a new Micro SD Card (Not less than:10MB/sec + 32G), e.g., a 64GB Endurance A2 micro-SDXC card or larger. An even larger SD card (e.g. 128GB) is preferred if you want to install more crypto mining apps to get more passive income.

4. Micro SD Card reader

5. Tweezers

6. raspberry pi imager for windows, download from here:

  https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/

Step1: Flash the image.

1. Connect the original micro SD card to your computer with a micro SD card reader.

2. Depending on your device model, select the corresponding firmware package to download.

3. Unzip the file to get the image ,e.g.: ubuntu-raspi-image_V1.3.3_Zero.img ”.

4. Download the “raspberry pi imager “ tool from here: https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/

5. Erase Micro SD with ”raspberry pi imager”.

           6. Flash the “ubuntu-raspi-image_V1.3.3_Zero.img ” to the micro SD card with “raspberry pi imager”.

7. Unplug the micro SD card from your computer and plug it into RPI.

8. Powers on the RPI and connect to the internet (better with ethernet cable).

9. Wait for 5 mins. The system needs to continue with specific installation steps when you first boot up; this is automatic, but please do not power down within 5 minutes of the first boot.

Step2:Login COTX Hotspot Web Management

1. Connect the RPI to the same router as your computer. Login to your WIFI router management interface and find the corresponding IP address of the RPI device based on the ETH MAC address recorded earlier.

2. Enter the IP address of the RPI into your computer browser to log into Hotspot Web Management.

Account: admin     initial default password: 123456

Note:  If you change your admin password, you must store it safely in otherwise places, and do not lose it, because no one can help you recover this password; the only way to recover it if you lost the password is to re-flash the firmware.

Step3:Get Gateway ID

After entering the Hotspot Web Management, click on the dashboard interface and record the Gateway ID under the Dashboard. Gateway ID is your RPI device's unique ID, which is assigned by COTX.

Step4:  Login in "COTX Hotspot Cloud Service", add device information, and reboot the device.

1. Login in "COTX Hotspot Cloud Service", URL is: https://www.cotx-sg.io/, (If for BATE testing, please use https://test.cotx-sg.io/ , the same login credential can be used in these two environments), click "Hotspot" --> "Add Hotspot", select "Brand (e.g. Raspberry Pi 4)" as the Maker and "Model(e.g. Model B ) " as the Model, enter the Gateway ID, the Enter the Gateway ID (from Web Management, be careful to enter the correct information otherwise the device will not be online, copy/paste is recommended) and add the device.

2. Click Add. Once your RPI is added in to the COTX Hotspot Cloud Service, please restart your Raspberry Pi .

3.Wait a few minutes after rebooting and check if the device version information is reported in the COTX Hotspot Cloud Service, Hotspot page. If the version information has been reported, the registration is successful.

Step5: Pay FlexiMining©  service fee, and install app.

Please check FlexiMining Support Matrix to see what apps we support.

Option 1: Pay for FlexiMining app one by one. Avg. Cost is ~ 1 USD per app per RPI per MONTH.

Select the application specified by FlexiMining©  and add it to the shopping cart; Click "Checkout" to confirm the payment. Once payment is complete, you can click on the relevant app to install it (unpaid apps are greyed out and cannot be installed).

For FlexiMining app installation instructions, please find all the manuals in this folder

Option 2: Pay for all FlexiMining apps at once. Avg. Cost is ~ 15 USD per for all apps per RPI per YEAR.

If you have placed an order for FlexiMining Package for RPI in COTX-Store.com and finished the COTX firmware flash, please send an email to services@cotxnetowrks.com to let us know your COTX store order number and your RPI MAC address, so we can enable all RPI available FlexiMining apps for your RPI device. Then you can log in to COTX Hotspot Cloud Service, click the FlexiMining app name directly, and start installing them immediately.
